November gift workshop facilitator open call

This winter, Durham Cathedral is offering local creatives and small businesses the opportunity to facilitate creative workshops based on the craft that you specialise in.

The work will consist of:

  • A workshop based at Durham Cathedral allowing visitors to make their own Christmas gift to give to somebody
  • There are three dates available: 12, 19 or 26 November
  • Durham Cathedral will provide the workshop space free of charge

What Are We Looking For?

We would like to offer local creatives the opportunity to host their own craft-based workshop at Durham Cathedral in which visitors can make a Christmas gift to take home. Examples include card making, bauble making, whittling or terrarium making.

Key information:

Durham Cathedral will not charge for a venue hire fee, however to cover the cost of box office and administration 10% of each ticket price sold will go to the Cathedral.

Dates: There are three dates available: 12, 19 or 26 November 2022

To apply please submit an expression of interest (500 words max) to pam.hill@durhamcathedral.co.uk explaining:

  • Your craft and workshop brief; is it suitable for beginners? What is the cost? How long do you expect the workshop to run for? How many people will be able to attend the course?
  • What requirements would you need from the venue; electrical sockets, a sink etc
  • Information about you and your creative practice/small business

The deadline for submissions is 5pm Friday 26 August
